Success Story - From 145 to 168
Jan 19, 2026
Let me tell you about one of my past clients, E. Over the course of several months he improved his LSAT from a 145 (diagnostic) to a 168 on his real LSAT!
When he reached out for tutoring, he had just started studying for the LSAT and was overwhelmed by the advice from the brand name subscription services he was using. They seemed be overcomplicate the process and he didn't want to utilize a complicated LSAT system.
So in early October he booked tutoring hours with me. He was so appreciative after our very first session that he went and posted this great review online.
I spend around 400 a month on subscriptions to other web sources for LSAT study and Katies’ unique way of managing problems helped me more in 2 hours than others have helped me in the last month.
Who:
Past student E. A.
Problem:
He felt the methodology taught in his other resources was overly complicated. Who has time on test day to go through a very unwieldy process? He was convinced there had to be a more intuitive way to get to the correct answer quickly.
Solution:
In tutoring and classes we broke down each question we looked at. While diagramming can be helpful, we wanted to develop a methodology that was intuitive for him, while also being mindful of the time constraints.
Here’s what we implemented:
- Break down each question
- You don’t have to diagram or make an elaborate prediction regarding the answer (other companies were spending so much time here he couldn’t believe anyone ever finished the test).
- Practice, practice, practice. He was studying for at least 6 hours a day.
- He hated getting an answer wrong. He spent so much time reviewing wrong answers because he didn’t want to miss a similar question again. (This is where many students skimp, they just see the correct answer, and think, “o yea, that makes sense,” yet they continue to miss the similar questions again and again.)
Did it work?
Implementing what we worked on together, he was able to improve his score by 16 points on his PTs in 6 weeks.
From there he continued to study and scored a 168 on his real LSAT!
He did this within 3 months - though he was studying as a full time job. He was able to study about 6 hours every day and it was his #1 priority.
For students working or in class full-time, or with young children at home, it is completely possibly to get your ideal score, but a longer time-frame might be more realistic.
Payoff:
His LSAT score enabled him to get a free ride to his 1st choice school. By booking several tutoring sessions and implementing what we worked on, he easily saved over $100,000 in tuition. What a great return on investment!
How is it going??
He just reached out after his first semester in Law School. Not only did he make the Dean’s list, but he also scored the very top grade in one of his classes! What an impressive accomplishment! (See below!)

Learning how to study, break down arguments, and read carefully (skills you must have to excel on the LSAT), will help you success in law school and beyond.
Good luck with your prep - and know that wherever you start you can reach your LSAT goals!
